Bleak
Earth's inhabitants would be wise to heed the life lessons from John Laroche in the film "Adaptation" because, as the song goes, the darkest hour is just before dawn. I renounce poetry.
In the end it was just an empty street
With wet leaves collected by the flat tires of abandoned cars
And the rhythmic flickering of a doorstep’s dying lamp;
Illegible initials of lovers pressed into the cement
And the bored yawn of an underfed cat
Facing a cold and silent wind.
